Hi guys...i am feeling pretty stupid right now but that is not a rare thing anyway!
I wanted to start a video blog in which i would explain some Mediterranean recipes while showing them to you.
I wanted to start with a mixed salad and that is what i did but please be nice with me also if the image is not very sharp and the sound is off!!
Next time it will be better, for now i will explain here what i was actually saying in the video...muahaha!
Take your cherry tomatoes and cut them in half.
Take the zucchini, cut the extremities and peel them with that magical thingy (you could actually also eat the skin but anyways) and then cut them in little slices.
Take the salad, here i have spinach and rucola which has a strong taste so if you don't like it don't put that in.
Take your pepper and cut it, you can put it inside big or little pieces, i am gonna make cubes.
Then take the carrot, do the same as with the zucchini then with the magical thingy start from the upper side and cut it in slices. This way you will be able to eat carrots without having to chew them for half an hour!
Take the lemon, cut a piece of the zest (without the white part which hasn't a good taste) and reduce it in slices or little pieces so that people will not realize they are actually eating lemon peel! You can also use lime, if you don't have the magical thingy or you don't wanna feel the zest under your teeth use the grater .
Now for the dressing take some olive oil, balsamic vinagre (not much cause has a strong taste), some salt and mix it.
You can also make a vinagrette (french dressing), put some mustard and dissolve it with the vinagre then put olive oil and salt.
Mix your salad, put the dressing and enjoy.
Ps: I wasn't picking my nose i was scratching it (nervous habit). Oh and wash all the vegetables and your hands before cooking!
You can also add anchovies, capers and pickels and basil too...and all the vegetables you like as long as they are raw and not too fat!

Variations and details bring the mundane to another level
My dad buys a recipe book every week because in my family we like to cook and mostly to eat.
We experiment, mostly when we have to invite someone over or bring something at a party. And that is exactly what i did last week. I was invited at a party in the countryside and i knew that family was going to feed me until i dropped so i thought it would have been nice to bring a cake over. I took my dad's new book and found a nice and very easy recipe for a strawberry cake.
You know, nothing more usual, short pastry and filling...here the real recipe:
short pastry 500g
ricotta 450g
strawberries 200g
eggs 2
orange blossoms water
a lemon
icing sugar
You put the short pastry on the pan then you mix the ricotta the eggs the orange blossoms water and the lemon zests all together and you put it on the pan.
Put in the hoven at 180 C° for 35 minutes. When is done leave it take the air for a while and then put the icing sugar and the strawberries.
As you can see, a very typical recipe, nothing special but then again, what makes it special are the variations you give things.
As with people, we are all the same, what makes us special are the differences between us, the variations and details you put in the mundane...so my short pastry had lime zests in it as well as my filling didnt have orange blossoms water but orange and lime zests.
I also went to the store with the convinction to have strawberries at home...i had eaten them the night before! What a great way to put another lil variation in...just put peaches on the cake!
And look at my creation now:
